Simple Pasta Bake

This recipe for a Simple Pasta Bake features ingredients from around the store that are part of Co-op Everyday, our new Every Day Low Price Program. The goal of this program is to offer a full-basket range of products at more affordable prices to increase the accessibility of nutritious foods to our community.

    Ingredients

    • 1 lb penne pasta, cooked until almost al dente, 2 minutes less than recommended cook time
    • 1 jar Field Day pasta sauce
    • 2 Tbs. olive oil
    • 1 yellow onion, chopped
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • ½ tsp sea salt
    • ½ tsp pepper
    • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
    • 1 tsp. Onion powder
    • 1 tsp. Garlic powder
    • Pinch red pepper flakes
    • 2 c. mozzarella cheese, grated

    Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a dutch oven, saute onion in olive oil and cook until translucent.

    Add beef and cook until no longer pink and add the seasonings.

    Stir in the pasta sauce, half of the cheese and pasta and stir to combine. Add to a casserole dish and top with remaining cheese. Bake for 25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is melted and serve.

    Note: Add blanched broccoli florets, sauteed kale, or add defrosted, drained frozen spinach to the mixture to add some veggies to the casserole.
